Welcome to North Port
An up-and-coming town with a bustling atmosphere
It hasn’t reached the size or status of the larger cities in the area, but North Port is far from a small town. It’s a busy city that is growing quickly as new developments go up and new stores open, attracting waves of residents to its sunny streets.
The city was originally known as North Port Charlotte but dropped the Charlotte to distinguish it from its Southern neighbor. Since 1980, North Port’s population has more than doubled, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in Florida. Even though its rapid growth, North Port has protected much of the unspoiled wilderness that surrounds it. These preservation efforts make it the only Florida city with a state park within its limits.
North Port’s quick growth has buoyed the housing market as well, and you’ll find that many of the homes here are recently built. This mix of single-family homes and condos makes real estate here some of the newest in the nation.
